Concours d'entrée L1 - DNA Art
The year is divided into 2 semesters (30 ECTS credits per semester).
These 60 ECTS credits can be used to enter a Licence 2 at Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire or by equivalence commission at other art schools and universities.
How to register
Prerequisites
- Personal artistic practice ;
- A marked interest in the visual and plastic arts and all contemporary forms of creation (dance, literature, film, music, etc.);
- Interest in art history: regular visits to museums, exhibitions and art galleries, reading;
- An interest in invention, creation, reflection and experimentation with art, materials and techniques;
- A great capacity for working independently and collectively, in workshops and for personal research (reading, writing).

Procedures for EU candidates
Applicants from the European Union are asked to present their diplomas translated into French.
A good knowledge of French is required: a certificate of passing the TCF (test de connaissance du français) level B2 or the DELF (diplôme d'études en langue française) level B2 obtained at the time of registration.

Application form
- Artistic file in PDF format, made up of a maximum of visuals, with a caption and a text explaining the intention of the work. Any video work will be linked so that it can be viewed online. PDF less than or equal to 2MB;
The portfolio must be representative of the applicant's artistic practice and show the diversity of approaches. As a preamble to this application, a note of intent is desirable to reinforce your proposed course of study, the number of characters of which is very limited on parcoursup.
- Motivated study plan via parcoursup or cover letter in PDF format (outside parcoursup) setting out the applicant's reasons for choosing an art course and the choice and expectations of an art school course. This letter should also describe the applicant's academic and extra-curricular background and artistic approach.
- Last diploma obtained for national candidates ;
- For candidates from the European Union, diplomas (baccalauréat or equivalent) translated into French, a certificate of passing the TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français) or the DELF (diplôme d'études en langue française) level B2 obtained at the time of registration.
PDF less than or equal to 2Mb ;
- Copy of both sides of passport or national identity card.
Tests and interview
SELECTION
- Written test of general knowledge based on a choice of two subjects. The aim of this test is to assess the candidate's powers of observation and ability to reflect on works of art.
- Plastic arts test, based on a choice of two subjects.
- 20-minute interview with a panel of two teachers. The interview takes place in three separate parts:
- a presentation of and commentary on the art test, the subject of which has been dealt with beforehand
- a reasoned presentation of your personal artistic portfolio
- discussions with the jury about the candidate's motivations and project.
Commission d'équivalence L2 et M1
How to register
The equivalence committee allows all French or international applicants to join the school from the Master 1 level, at the Nantes site, who can prove that they have the required level of study and have validated the European credits for the year they wish to study.
Entry into L2 and M1 only, no entry into L3 or M2.
Exceptionally, for the start of the 2024 academic year, no Equivalence Commission will be organised for Licence 3. Only Equivalence Commissions for Licence 2 and Master 1 will be possible.

Candidates of French nationality
When you register, you must have several compulsory documents:
- your artistic dossier presenting your work in PDF format. Document less than 12MB.
- your teaching dossier in PDF format (less than 12MB):
- for the 2nd cycle M1 :
- a statement of intent concerning the courses offered in the Master's programme, addressed to the Director.
- transcripts or certificates showing that credits have been obtained, baccalaureate transcripts, certificates of attendance and diplomas obtained.
- a copy of both sides of your identity card or passport.

- for the 1st cycle L2 :
your artistic file presenting your plastic work in PDF format. Document less than 12MB.
your educational file in PDF format (less than 12MB): transcripts, diplomas, certificate of attendance.
proof of having passed the TCF-DAP (test de connaissance du français) or the DELF (diplôme d'études en langue française) at least level C1 obtained at the time of application. Non-French-speaking students already enrolled in a French art school accredited by the Ministry of Culture are not subject to this requirement;
- for the 2nd cycle M1 :
a note of intent on the proposed Master's courses, addressed to the Director.

Application fees
The registration fee for the equivalence commission is €45, payable :
- by credit card online at the time of registration.
- by cheque made payable to the "Recette des finances de Nantes municipale". (non-EU cheques are not accepted).
